Heck.
   
  The last real job I had where the systems programmers weren't treated like 
dirt was in a 3090-6J shop.  The employees in the mainframe area weren't 
exactly treated like Gods but were well respected.
   
  BTW that 3090 beat any MP box you could mention.
   
  I was the manager of a shop of 30 people althought by that time I was still 
hands on the division of responsibilites was devided betwee 6 systems 
programmers and there was more then enough work for them.
   
  I just hope to live long enough to see even the small zBC machines take hold 
where there are managers who DO have a clue instead of the people out there now 
who think the world ends with PC toys instead of real realiable machines that 
are truly business class.  Good luck IBM and any smart management out there.
