An IBM FAQ list says the following about MIDAW: "Applications that use the following may benefit [from MIDAW]: DB2, VSAM, Partitioned Data Set Extended (PDSE), Hierarchical File System (HFS), z/OS File System (zFS), and other datasets exploiting striping and compression.
