I have sympathy for AMD's position, but let's bear in mind they want to
sell lots and lots of chips, and (to be totally cynical) virtualization is
not in the interests of a chipmaker interested in high volumes.

I know IBM's software pricing strongly favors virtualization, and most
customers benefit strongly from extensive deployment of virtualization.  At
least at that general level that's a good match.
