The two major enqueue names are SYSZIGW0 and SYSZIGW1.  PDSE services
automatically set scope to SYSTEMS.  An enqueue with major name SYSDSN
will also be issued.  A complete reference on all aspects of PDSE Usage

Not really.
You would have to do an awful(*) lot of work to cause measurable
overhead.

Just make sure you have the proper resources for managing PDSE's in a
shared environment set to scope SYSTEMS. The default is SYSTEM.
(PS: I've forgotten what they are, but I believe there are three)

* - vague technical term. Along the lines of: "Results May Vary".
