Hi,

Just thought I'd share IBM(UK)'s response to a simple question asking for a
description of the 5 possible functions for the XRC message ANTX8117I which
indicates a consistency delay detected at
(Primary/Secondary/Buffers/Master/Journal). We have seen an increasing
number of these messages being issued recently so I wanted to know exactly
what they meant. I was pretty sure of 4 of them but wanted them clarifying.

I received the following response...

"Rob, I have had a word with my colleague, all the information he has is
IBM Confidential and he is not aware of anything in the public domain.
regards

ITS Technical Support"

When i challenged the answer, i received........

"Rob, I work for a service division of IBM and I am unable to give you any
information that is not in the public domain. If you require a statement of
the position of IBM(UK) on this then you need to approach IBM marketing.
regards
***** *****,
Senior Specialist
ITS Technical Support"

So i guess anyone interested in XRC as it's DR tool had better be aware
that you're not supposed to know how the product you will rely on actually
works? In the meantime, an IBM guy who had been sent to help discuss our
problems took the 2 minutes required to fully answer the question. Wish he
worked for their support team.

Regards,

Rob Lister
