Netscape Communications Corporation introduced SSL 2.0 with the launch
of Netscape Navigator 1.0 in 1994. Netscape Navigator 2.0 included
support for SSL 3.0 when it was released in 1996. The specification for
TLS 1.0, essentially a standardized version of SSL 3.0 with some
differences, was published in 1999.
We're still running with the HMC 1.8.2 -- the one that came with our
z800. (Yeah, yeah. I know. We're looking at upgrading soon...)
We discovered (the "hard" way) that the secure sockets support on our
HMC is SSL 2.0! This is a problem for us because the new Firefox 2.0
release no longer supports this obsolete protocol!
Does anyone know if it's possible to make this HMC speak either SSL 3.0
or TLS? The "Console Features" dialog gives me the option of enabling,
disabling, or requiring secure transmission. But, no option for choosing
which protocol to use. Could there be another setting?
