One thing that I always thought was a bit "funny" in the marketing is that they say it provides a low-end mainframe solution. IMHO it's not a mainframe or anywhere near a mainframe.
A z/OS emulator is a super-duper development/testing/educational resource, but not a mainframe. I hope that instead of stopping their AD/CD program it opens it up more, especially to partners, developers and educational institutions. (It's a dream, anyway.) -----Original Message----- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Phil Sidler Sent: Monday, December 11, 2006 4:52 AM To: IBM-MAIN@BAMA.UA.EDU Subject: Re: IBM-PSI filing Phil Payne wrote: > Suckers. I recall being at such a SHARE session in Seattle and did not get a straight answer. The line was something like we would simply order the software & IBM would license it. Why wouldn't they? heh. Somewhat the same response at a 64-bit FLEX system session. (ISVs can use it, but not commercial customers.) Seemingly a trend. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
