Keep it in the listserv please so you get the benefit of more responders. There is no JCL. HSM is a started task that should be always running. You issue commands to it using the MODIFY console command or, if you are an authorized administrator, the HSEND TSO command. Since you are failing a recycle, someone must already be issuing that command. That person needs to add the FORCE operand. If you have a single dataset that spans three tapes and you have data checks on some of the tapes in that dataset, the dataset is probably lost. The purpose of FORCE is to allow HSM to ignore files with data checks and move the other (good) files to new tapes. _____

You mention to use the "RECYCLE with EXECUTE and FORCE" commands. I am not sure how I can do it. Would you have a jcl that I could use. Also, would this be applicable if it is a multi-tape dsn. In this case there are 3 tapes on this dataset. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
