What syslog? If you are referring to syslogd, then that goes where you tell it in syslog.conf. That could be any unix file system(s) or even the JES syslog via /dev/console. It doesn't have to be /tmp. I don't use a TFS for /tmp - only for /var and there are no logs in there. Marna already posted what IBM components use /var earlier in this thread a couple of weeks ago. We don't use those. However, I do plan on creating a HFS/zFS for /var (again) as I roll out z/OS 1.8 anyway since there are documented components that expect data there between IPLs. So I went 10 releases with using a TFS for /var. :-) Mark -- Mark Zelden Sr. Software and Systems Architect - z/OS Team Lead Zurich North America / Farmers Insurance Group: G-ITO mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] z/OS and OS390 expert at http://searchDataCenter.com/ateExperts/ Systems Programming expert at http://expertanswercenter.techtarget.com/ Mark's MVS Utilities: http://home.flash.net/~mzelden/mvsutil.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
