Maybe I've missed your (or maybe John's) point.  I think John is 
sayig that it doesn't matter how accessable a ISV's system is if
access to demos on those systems is blocked at the potential
customer's site.

We are have that situation at my shop.  Non-corporate PCs are not
allowed on our LAN, and internet connections to/from corporate PCs 
on the LAN are blocked for most ports.  (Yes, paranoia is a prereq
for employment here.)  Vendors trying to give demos here have 
real problems.
