whether the 12% figure is in "constant currency" or not, but the dollar
isn't 12% weaker, and you have some large mainframe markets (like Japan)
with weak currencies anyway.

The 12% is 'as reported'. It is 8% in CC (constant currency).
According to the slides shown.

Quotes from this morning's Wall Street Journal article:

"first quarter earnings rose 8%"

"Revenue rose 6.6% to $22.03 billion"

"About three percentage points of the revenue growth
reflected the effects of strengthening foreign
 currency translated into dollars.:

"Its hardware-division sales rose 2%, but were flat
in constant-currency. Double-digit growth in the
mainframes and powerful servers run on the Unix
operating system [SIC] led to sharp earnings
 improvement in the division."

"Revenue in software, IBM's most important profit
contributor, rose 9%, or 5% adjusted for currency.
About half its growth came from acquisitions."

FWI.
