On page 4 of "Open Systems Adapter-Express Customer's Guide and Reference",
"Chapter 1. Introducing OSA-Express and OSA-Express2", section "OSA-Express
Characteristics", we find
<quote>
Each OSA-Express is shipped with a world-wide unique, or universal, Media
Access Control (MAC) address. This MAC address permits the OSA to be
uniquely identifiable on the attached LAN. If you prefer, you can use the
OSA Support Facility (OSA/SF), the Hardware Management Console, or the
Support Element to create and activate a local or group MAC address for a
physical OSA port.

On page 128, "MAC Addresses", the topic is discussed. In the section "Using
the REXX EXEC (IOACMD)" direct editing of the OSA is described.
Long ago I believe I performed this sort of operation using OSA/SF with an
OSA-2 feature. I needed to because I was documenting how to migrate from a
3172 to OSA-2 for SNA use - and SNA combined with IP use.
As far as I can tell only one MAC address can be specified.
Unless I misunderstand the OSA FENET feature - quite possible - you'll be
dealing with Ethernet so, if you are trying to support token-ring partners,
you'll be needing a token-ring to Ethernet bridge function in between and
the MAC address will need to have each byte specified in reverse bit order -
as I remember this sort of thing.
I can just about see how, if this bridge function was clever enough - and
you never had one partner in communication with more than one of the
token-ring MAC addresses at the same time - it might manage to map three
addresses to one. I have to leave it to others to cover this possibility if
it exists.

Subject: OSA Card: Definition MAC ADDRESS
Hi all,
To date, I use a CIP-CARD to simulate three addresses Token Ring. I would
like to replace the router CIP(function CSNA) by a OSA-FE. How to make in
the file of configuration OAT to take again MAC existing Addresses.
Thank you for your assistance
