Well, one thing to remember is that all TCPIP communications in UNIX is via the File System calls. So things like SYSLOGDn will be waiting in a FILE SYS KERNEL WAIT when it is waiting for something to send it a message to log. So a FILE SYS KERNEL WAIT does not mean DISK I/O wait or anything like that. It could mean waiting for TCPIP input or input via a PIPE (either unnamed or a FIFO).
