I evaluated a copy of JES2FTP / JES2MAIL a couple of years ago; it has a lot of capability above and beyond the PDF creation: it has a scripting language you can use, for example, to split a large report into smaller PDFs based on page fields; create HTML pages, etc. It was a good product, and I'm sure it's improved since then.
