Hi George, If you already own MQ I'd be inclined to suggest a MQ request-reply type implementation.
And make your requests / replies XML mapped ... then your clients could run anywhere. Unless there is some overriding reason to limit them to the mainframe. IBM provides sample request / reply MQ programs - or if you hop over to that listserver I'm sure someone could float you something.
