The jobs were HELD prior to completing output processing.  Most likely $HJ
(nnnn) was issued while the jobs were executing.

Try releasing the jobs $AJ(nnnn).  They should then appear on the hard copy 
queue where you can purge them which will allow the spool volumes to drain.
