Gadi,
as far as I know, the 2074 isn't marketed any longer, but on the used
market you can get such a machine for - as we say in Germany - an apple
and an egg. The OSA-integrated console facility is only an option with
the z890 and newer models. This feature comes on these machines
automatically when you order a 1000-base-T osa adapter. The 2 ports you
can use each independantly either as normal osa ports or as ICC
adapter. You can imagine both, the 2074 or the OSA-ICC as an emulated
3174. The 2074 is connected over 1 or 2 escon channels to the mainframe
and in iocds defined just the same as an 3174 connected over escon. As
any escon device you can share between several lpars. The osa-icc is of
course internally connected inside the machine. To both devices you
connect with telnet3270 and you get a connection to a non-sna terminal
device which you can use as console for any operating system or
vtam-non-sna-terminal.

concerned it looks like a non-SNA terminal controller. It just happens
to also be a TN3270 server, when you connect to it you get a session on
