Hi Folks,
I have (pretty much) the "complete solution" for administering the
SYS1.BRODCAST dataset in CBT Tape File 247 (which is FREE)
www.cbttape.org Updates page. I am coming out soon (the programs are
all written) with a commercial version of this package, that will be
(indeed) a practically complete solution for copying the Broadcast
Dataset, saving and transplanting messages, userids, and Notices from
one copy of it, to another. Included are 2 programs for calculating
sizes and then INITTING a Broadcast Dataset of ANY SIZE, then filling it
up with Notices, Userids, and Messages from any other copy, in a very
fast amount of clock time. I have "bulk dumpers" and "bulk loaders" for
Notices, Userids, and User Messages in place.
The commercial version will be VERY CHEAP. I don't expect that it
will be more than $1000. And it might be considerably less, depending
on the demand. I'd say it'd be around $500-600 and $200 for annual
maintenance. I hope that's cheap enough for a z/OS supported product.
The capabilities of the commercial product will allow you to do all
kinds of innovative new practices with regard to recording and managing
of the Notices and User Messages, as well as managing copies of the
Brodcast Dataset and archiving it.
Please look at www.brodmstr.com for information about the commercial
product. I trust that you will find the visit interesting. The site is
still under construction somewhat, and I hope to add all kinds of
illustrations and screen shots, as well as facts and trivia about the
Broadcast Dataset.
All the best of everything to all of you.
Sincerely, Sam Golob Sam Golob Systems Programming LLC
