What I've discovered from here and others is that you can do zIIP sizing with DB2 v7, but it takes special processing and is not simple. Once you're on DB2 v9 (and I believe z/OS 1.8) you then have the zIIP eligible CPU values in the SMF records and the analysis becomes much easier.
