Currently, it is defined as CONTROL UNIT=3990 and IODEVICE UNIT=3390 in the 
IOCDS.

EMC came out with PAV support, years ago.
So, as long as you are at z/OS 1.3 (or higher) the answer is yes.
(Former EMC customer).
