Mark,
Thank you for the correction.

However it's *new* information. I just checked z/OS 1.7 version of the manual - no mention about FCTC. Does it mean FCTC is not supported on 1.7 or just undocumented ? I don't know. I checked summary of changes - no mention about FCTC.

BTW: It remained me, I submitted an RCF for the book. AFAIK I asked to remove obsolete information about HW, correct some jobs, etc. I just found in summary of changes: "Information about IBM 3088 Multisystem Channel Communication Unit (MCCU) is removed."
"Information about SYSCTLG has been removed."

Regards

These links can be either a data link in a parallel CTC adapter. In ring
mode, "link" or "CTC link" means either an IBM 3088 data link, a parallel
CTC adapter, or an ESCON(R) channel operating in CTC or basic mode, or FCTC.

As I understand it, that was true for ESCON CTC, I'm using FICON CTC, or
device type of FCTC. It is supposed to be supported.
AFAIK not. You cannot make GRS ring over FCTC links.
Note: you can make GRS ring over XCF links which can be defined over
FCTC. However XCF means sysplex (at least basic).
