Thanks to everyone for the help...The outcome:
Create storage class TEMP and if UNIT=VIO assign SC TEMP.
If SC = TEMP, assign it to SG = TEMP...

Problem solved... No need to add the esoteric...

Probably because it has always been there, I've always assumed that VIO
allocated via SMS needed a model device defined.
