Here's is what apar oa25452 says:
If the vary offline fails with message IEE367I ATTEMPT TO VARY
MASTER CONSOLE CANDIDATE IS REJECTED, use the HMC to generate an
external interrupt to the LPAR owning the console. Note that
this may deactivate the other active consoles in the sysplex.
If this occurs, these consoles will need to be varied offline
and back as a console.
This has generated some discussion about how you would do this, I know you
can interrupt engines, is it really possible to interrupt the LPAR ? and
exactly how would you go about doing this ?
