Many thanks! I don't know if my boss will go for this or not. I just ordered
z/OS 1.10, which supposedly can handle UTF-16. Of course, that's going to
take a while to get in and installed.
I don't understand that comment above, "z/OS 1.10, which supposedly
can handle UTF-16". There is quite a bit of Unicode support in z/OS
before 1.10. What, specifically, do you find added that would help
you in this little adventure?
Kind regards,

Sorry, I meant that ftp on z/OS 1.8 does not support UTF-16LE (Little
Endian) which is how the file on Windows is encoded. I cannot ftp a UTF-16
file from Windows to z/OS, converting to CP-037 in the process. I need
UTF-16LE to CP037 or CP1047. That is CCSID 1202, which does not exist in
z/OS 1.8, but does in 1.10 (according to the doc on 1.10). The only UTF in
z/OS 1.8 appears to be UTF-16 (big endian on z/OS).
Ah, right, I see. Thanks for the clarification.
Kind regards,
-Steve Comstock
