Saves a channel, offers greater flexibility... Though probably not as much as
an issue as switches and channels are not the expense they used to be.

Take a look at FCTC Topology Options in FICON CTC Implementation (REDP-0158) or
at least the following paragraph:

A single FICON channel connected to a FICON Director can provide the FICON CTC
communications between the systems in the logical partitions on a single
processor, as well as images on other processors. It can also be used to
communicate to other I/O control units.

Kevin

Subject: CTC FICON DIRECTOR

Hello Forumers,

I try to clarify for myself the following issue:

Do I need FICON Director in order to connect two LPARs on the same CEC using
FICON CTC ?

Please refer to documentation on the subject if possible.

Thanks,

Arye Shemer.
