Thanks again for all the valuable input.  We made no memory changes to the 
lpar.  Moving forward we are concentrating more on the elapsed time problem and 
less on the service units reporting.  

It does seem to be looking more and more like we are cpu constrained (queuing 
problem).  At 2 a.m., when our subject batch job runs, the lpar is at 95% cpu, 
and our monitor shows our batch job is spending 88 to 92% of it's time waiting 
for cpu.  

I am out for the next 3 days. I will post any findings when I return. Thx so
