The first of John McKown's two schemes is bad in a really imaginative way, as he intended it to be.
The second is a metascheme. Since DB2 does not do its own non-trivial sorts it is only a way of invoking DFSORT or SYNCHSORT under the covers; worse, since the sort requested is executed asynchronously, such an arrangement could even have merit, albeit not from COBOL, which is still resolutely synchronous. --jg ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
