Do you have any tools like EASYEXIT? Or ACC? Or BMC Tools (use to be Stop-X37 or PROSMS)?
In ISMF You can set up a class to include dynamic volume count. In SMS environment we see Seq and VSAM regularly take up to 100's of extents when a dataset is poorly allocated. Do you use SMS for these datasets? Do you work with your users on how to properly allocate a dataset? My rule of thumb is small Primary and large Secondary with RLSE where possible.
