I use Markdown, with a preprocessor I wrote - for both slides and text. I'm thinking of open sourcing the preprocessor - mdpre - and the pptx generator - md2pptx. (Right now they're on IBM's internal GitHub site but I don't anticipate much difficulty in open sourcing them.) Both are written in Python 3.

Passive FTP ... )] Sent by: IBM Mainframe Discussion List <IBM-MAIN@LISTSERV.UA.EDU> I started using LyX and decided that it was easier to just write my own LaTeX markup. I know longer recall what the issues are, but I use, e.g.,embedded images ( https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__mason.gmu.edu_-7Esmetz3_humor_RFC1149.html&d=DwIFAg&c=jf_iaSHvJObTbx-siA1ZOg&r=BsPGKdq7-Vl8MW2-WOWZjlZ0NwmcFSpQCLphNznBSDQ&m=K8Is7dW492k9RcCQgD7G_virhOHcBXlMmDYD25EAXa8&s=xUzro7nZU172LTyxA6JJ6lM8OxI03jrs_4kIgJ54dmE&e= ), some less common packages ( https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__mason.gmu.edu_-7Esmetz3_humor_DOX.pdf&d=DwIFAg&c=jf_iaSHvJObTbx-siA1ZOg&r=BsPGKdq7-Vl8MW2-WOWZjlZ0NwmcFSpQCLphNznBSDQ&m=K8Is7dW492k9RcCQgD7G_virhOHcBXlMmDYD25EAXa8&s=q2_K7yJW068bx7Og9edLWf3LyhRImSjPIblS-o4c3Qg&e= ) and packages specifically for Mathematics, e.g., drawing commutative diagrams.. Latex is awkward, and I'd much rather have BookMaster and BookManager BUILD (MVS) for things like letters and documentation, but LaTeX is still in the "cold dead hands" category for either Mathematics or tee-shirt design. -- Shmuel (Seymour J.)
