I believe the objective was/is to prevent shell use.  Often achieved by
setting users' login shell in OMVS segment to /bin/false.  Might be
circumvented by using ssh to start /bin/sh.

Hmmm.  Can NFS client mount an NFS at a BFS mountpoint?

Can NFS server export a BFS?
