Classification : Public Hi,
At the problem, messages of the begin and the end of PSM or IM as issued by HSM? This can be a good way to monitor HSM activity by Automation. If the resultant WTO or WTOR is not replied to, and/or is accidentally removed the device can be left hanging for weeks. I strongly suggest isolation of the HSM CDS's to a non-hsm managed volume(s). The most likely reason for the hang is a grs deadlock between HSM (managing the volume) and HSM (accessing the CDS's. Perhaps if the condition in excess of (e.g. 15 min). alert the operator. There was no indication of this and it only came to light because jobs began to fail due to datasets not being recalled. This has been reported to IBM and no doubt a fix will ensue. However the customer has asked me if an alert could be generated if this happens again. Does anyone have any ideas how this hang state could be detected so that an alert could be generated ?
