Joe is correct that an ESA/390 lpar is the lowest option supported on the z114. I can run software up to z/OS 2.2, which came out in 2015. While this is old, I am not sure that it is quite bit savers old yet. I believe that manuals for this software version are still on the public internet (it is a section on IBM documentation). What additional complications are involved in programming for z/Archetecure and ESA/390 that you don't have to deal with on the lower ISA levels?
