Not true. It simply means if you change the (non-fixed) interface, you must re-issue all affected components.

There is much more overhead and opportunity for error shipping individual components than full replacement. With the bandwidth etc. available now full replacement makes much more sense.


I agree that limited bandwidth was the reason for much of the service strategy we have today. That said, we have been having great luck lately using ++JARUPD instead of ++JAR for many of our Java-based components and people seem to like it!
