Thanks for the REXX code, however, please note that there is additional processing. OP wants to generate 2 different command files and make a copy of the input along with setting a return code if the input file is empty, so that they can skip further processing. Rexx is good at some tasks, but it is not good at I/O when compared to DFSORT.
