Not everyone has access to DCOLLECT data (we are not all sysprogs with privileged access rights). IGGCSI00 can be used by most folks to query catalog data.
Understanding that the DSNTYPE isn’t available in the catalog data, perhaps IEHLIST could be used (clumsily I admit) to “print” the VTOC data for each dataset and then scrape the listing for the answer? Possibly in the “SMS flags” area?
