Dave, You can set a time zone via the Manage System Time (MST) panels to set the time zone for the CTN, and you can choose to set DST manually or automatically. When there is a DST change all z/OS systems running in an LPAR on a CPC in the STP CTN that specify STPMODE YES will get a Time Controls Parameter Change external interrupt and if the system specifies STPZONE YES then process the DST change.
What you need to do is set the time zone via the STP and perform DST changes automatically is: 1. Manage System Time -> Current Time Details -> Adjust time zone offset. Choose the time zone and select Automatically adjust for DST 2. Specify STPMODE YES and STPZONE YES in CLOCKxx For systems that will be managed manually: 1. Specify TIMEZONE d.hh.mm.ss, STPMODE YES and STPZONE NO in CLOCKxx 2. Issue SET TIMEZONE d.hh.mm at the appropriate time 3. Update TIMEZONE in CLOCKxx so that the correct time zone is used at the next IPL. Note, you can only specify one time zone for the STP CTN. If you need to manage multiple time zones then the other time zones need to be managed manually. Since implementing GDPS, we have 50+ images to manage. Historically, because of application dependencies, we've managed the change to DST manually with SET TIMEZONE commands. Now that we have a lot of K systems, etc, I'd like to have the majority of lpars set spring forward/back automatically for all lpars that can, and just manually control those that still have the application limitation(it uses local time, not UTC). Its not clear to me how to have a mix of both when creating CTN's on the HMC? Or maybe there is nothing to set there, except the correct time zone, and its just a matter of updating CLOCK00 to remove the TIMEZONE, and set STPZONE YES? Just trying to get some feedback from those that have done it. Don't want to mess up the timing network in my environment....
