If I know the JES DDN that matched the JCL SYSOUT DD, then I would already have been able to get it via JES browse and SAPI would not be necessary. The information I "know" is the JOB OWNER, the JOB name, the JOb number and the procstep|step|DDNAME that I want to read from JES. Unfortunately, JES browse wants me to know the JES DSN, (and so does SAPI which also wants other info I don't have). I still 'think" that I want the extended information SSI, and that's the sample assembler code that I'm looking for.
