One obvious use would be to compare the UUID of the running system to what 
z/OSMF has generated to see if the software deployment matches.

Note that the UUID is shown on the SDSF "SYS" panel.

I have seen a little bit of info on a UUID that is going to be stored in
LPA.  There seems to be very little information about what the actual
intent is for it.  I saw Kurt Quackenbush on a couple of Share
presentations, but no real details.
