External Message: Use Caution

Thanks for providing that link, but I see now where some of the unclarity comes
from. I have another manual which describes TSO Pipes, GC28-1651, and I cannot
find that online anywhere so now I really need to scan that.

In current CMS Pipelines documentation (looking at z/VM 7.1 from 2020 at
least), there is this message included for z/OS support:

Level 1.1.9 of TSO Pipelines shipped under the name BatchPipeWorks* as part of
BatchPipes/MVS and subsequently SmartBatch/MVS, IBM Program Number 5655-A17,
but those products are no longer marketed by IBM.

I'll try to have that SmartBatch manual available somewhere soon, for
historical purposes. I am certain that it got nowhere just because nobody knew
about it. I always considered myself lucky to have worked for a company that
shelled out tens of K's for things I found interesting, having seen it on VM; I
don't think anybody else there ever used it. I find the assumptions in the
subject header and the combative aversion to Unix very peculiar; this way of
discussing issues is a certain way to alienate every decision maker against
z/OS and mainframes; and this attitude seen here and there must also have hurt
Linux on Z deployments, which is really great stuff (Linux on Z with ooRexx
there, thanks to RexxLA).

best regards,

René.
