As someone who used OS2 and is now using Window 7 because it runs the
tax programs I use and other software, Windows has been decent for me
with no more quirks than MVS in 1980s and 1990s (and from what I read
the same is still true) and an update process with access to the
descriptions of the fixes that works for me virtually all of the time.
If I were running a data center on Windows Server, I would be paying
more attention to the fixes and making far greater use of the tools
and logs that are available with the system that I am currently
ignoring. Windows 8 (I have it on my netbook) is annoying but then
again some of the major releases of MVS have been more than annoying.
