I'm saddened, but not surprised, that you got off-list "nasty" replies. I am lucky in that I have not been a recipient of such a thing. At least not so far. The mention of INDIA is probably the hallmark of someone who is really angry at U.S. management going for the "lowest bidder". At times, that is wise. But, unfortunately, that tends to make it possible for relatively unskilled people to land jobs for which they are not qualified. Which then builds resentment when such a one, or one who is perceived to be such a one, asks for help. Like being underbid on a house improvement contract, then having the winner ask for unpaid help on that same job.
Now, anybody who has been here very long should at least remember your name. You're not a total unknown. But some of what I have read here reminds me of another forum, to which I no longer subscribe, where a self-proclaimed "PERL wizard" was constantly berating others if they made any reply that _he_ considered to be "stupid". He basically ranted that he had better things to do with his time than correct know-nothing <elided> people who should just kept their stupid mouths shut. I realize now that he most likely has some sort of psych problem. But I still wouldn't consider going back. Too toxic. I really hope this forum does not go that way. But the word "civility" seems to be less and less useful any more. Oh, well, I still anticipate my off-world transfer orders coming soon.
