issue the $DSPL command and then save the results.

An automation package is not needed. All you have to do is add a $TA
command to your JES2 startup. This command issues a command to JES2
to issue some command. There is a parm to reissue the command on a
periodic basis. Thus it can inject a $DSPL every hour.
