Thanks for that information - we've not yet got to 2.1 (although a couple of systems have it), so it might be some time before I can use that - but it's good to know it's coming.
Thanks to everyone else for the suggestions. The only way that I can see we can do it at present is to create a copy of the real datasets under their alias name, and track usage of that. Uggh.
