Though John Thomas "Jack" Gilmore Jr. sounds like a fascinating fellow, he cannot be "our" John Gilmore. The birthdate (even the month) doesn't match, neither does his wife's first name, and it is inconceivable that there would be no mention of our Mr Gilmore's European education and language facility.
