Same story every few year. In fact, the term 'Dead wood' is coming from IBM 
according to an ex-IBMer.

The big blue is hiring and firing in a never ending cycle due to technology 
changes (cloud), strategy, competition, cost cutting, etc.

Also, big blue is outsourcing and moving jobs offshore.... hmmm, reminds me of 
current threads... "work moved to India"

The same hiring/firing are also happening in banks (branches closing in favour 
of mobile) and mining conglomerates (not much left in earth to mine)...

But then big blue is still recruiting "... currently has more than 25,000 open 
positions."
