you are absolutely right, I was not sure if these definitions were still needed. I'm not sure that would cause the jobs to get submitted but not run but I'm going to remove these defintions thank you

A MAS doesn't require anything, except that the SPOOL and CKPT parameters point to the same data set. That's it. There's nothing else required. If it's the latter you want, then you need a network connection and you need to ensure it is started before the systems will recognize each other.
