Yes, technically, as long as it's a digital computing algorithm. Analog
algorithms might be tough:

"Technically" is an important qualifier. What might be technically possible
might not be contractually or legally possible. In the case of blockchain
algorithms, there are probably a couple governments prohibiting or severely
restricting blockchain algorithm adoption in their countries.

If you're eager to get started with blockchain algorithms on z/OS, I
suggest getting ahold of IBM's SDK for Node.js for z/OS and then try this
Hyperledger Fabric Client for Node.js:

That particular combination should get your z/OS system connected to any
Hyperledger Fabric network, which could be (as a notable example) a secure
Enterprise Hyperledger Fabric at IBM Bluemix, running in secure containers
on IBM Z machines at IBM. Please give it a try if you're interested --
reports appreciated.
