I once got on a plane to go to a customer site because they could NOT get an SNMP common string accepted. As I had at least half suspected, they were entering it in uppercase, despite multiple explicit attempts to get them to enter it in lowercase. (Yes, I'd suggested WebEx or equivalent; "Not allowed".) Customer wasn't even abashed.
