I have no problem with 7z, but using an extension for the wrong format is sick.

Alas, some vendors (even IBM has been an offender) use "other tools" such as 7-Zip to produce idiosyncratic archives which nonetheless are given the ".zip" extension but can't be extracted by prevalent tools.
