What do you mean by ROOT?  In sysplex file sharing the ROOT is the SYSPLEX root 
that you create, which is typically very small, and only has the required , 
when not sharing ROOT is usually the filesystem IBM supplies.  My sysplex root 
contains (edited) mountpoints for each LPAR connecting, each possible z/OS 
SYSRES, altroot, vendor sysres amongst others.
